About Us
Duck For Cover was born from our love of Warhammer and our desire to bring more team tournaments to our community.
In October 2024, founder Alax Henderson was eager to play in local Warhammer 40K team events—but in the PNW, opportunities were few and far between. So he decided to create one himself. West Coast Warbands 2025 was no small undertaking; hosting a tournament required many full sets of terrain. But where do you get that much terrain—and more importantly—how do you store it in the off-season?
As anyone who’s built terrain knows, once it’s assembled, it never fits back into its original box. With limited space in a 500 sq ft home, Alax had to solve both the need for high-quality terrain and a way to store it efficiently. That challenge became the spark that started Duck For Cover.
Working together, Alax and his wife, Kayleigh, set out to design terrain that not only looked great and played well, but also packed flat for easy storage and transport. After months of R&D, countless test cuts, failures, breakthroughs, gluing sessions, and painting marathons, they created terrain that solved their immediate tournament needs—and became something they were truly proud of.
Today, Duck For Cover offers the same flat-pack, ready-to-play terrain born from that journey. We hope you love it as much as we do.
